Bald Eagle art
Ken Knowles is a birder, naturalist, historian and tour leader. He has been leading tours for fifteen years for Eagle Eye Tours, Observe Tours, Canadian Cultural Landscapes, Wildland Tours, Lindblad Expeditions and Cruise North.

Ken’s love of nature began thirty years ago as a birder and wildflower enthusiast, and since then his interests have broadened into all areas of natural history. He has compiled one of the largest lists of bird sightings in his home province of Newfoundland, and his photographs have appeared in national and international magazines as well as coffee table books, including North American Raptors by Wheeler and Clark, Wings Over Water by Tingley and Barrrett, and Wildflowers of Prince Edward Island by Katherine Clough. He contributes articles regularly to Birders’ Journal, The Osprey and Sarracenia.

Ken’s tour groups consistently appreciate his ability to relate at all levels and enjoy his sense of humour. He regularly gives presentations to the Natural History Society of Newfoundland and to The Wildflower Society, and has been requested to teach extension courses on ornithology for Memorial University of Newfoundland. As well he often contributes birding columns to The St. John’s Telegram. Ken is a guest several times a year on CBC Radio, speaking on bird-related topics. He has served as provincial co-ordinator for the international Important Bird Areas project and has been provincial representative to the American Birding Association.
